We had quite the journey home from Idaho. We got about 5 miles past Moses Lake when our transmission went out on us! We called a tow truck and they came to our rescue, bringing us back to the nearest shop. They were closed because it was Sunday so we had to get a hotel for the night. Luckily there were about 5 hotels on the same block so we went for the most ghetto looking one and got it for $45.00 a night. It was owned by an Asian couple and they were really nice and the place was actually really clean so it wasn't too scary staying there!
We Erich got up first thing Monday morning to head over to the shop so we could try and get our car in as quick as possible. They found a used transmission in town that was in good condition and they were really nice and stayed late to fix it so we could have it done that night. We got a call from them at about 10:00pm saying they were missing a part and were going to pick it up in the morning so it wouldn't be done till then. Luckily Erich had Monday and Tuesday off anyway so it didn't effect him at all. And my work didn't really mind me having to call in which was good. They called us Tuesday morning at about 9:00am letting us know the car was good to go and we were on our way!
It was actually a nice little 2nd vacation. We just hung out at the hotel, they had a pool and hot tub, and the lake was just down the road. There was a little grocery store and a couple places to eat. It wasn't that bad at all. Except for the
giant bill to fix the dang car! But we won't worry about that. We're just glad we were safe and that it didn't end up being a worse situation. We're very thankful it all worked out the way it did!
