Happy Birthday Love

It's Erich's birthday on the 24th and I wanted to do a post all about him. I am so thankful for him and the wonderful husband he is to me. He completely lights up my life. He is such a good person and tries so hard every day to be the best husband he can be. I feel so lucky to have him and am so proud to be his wife. Here are a few things you may not know about him, and the things I absolutely love:
  • He has a heart of gold.
  • He makes me oh so happy.
  • He is honest. And I mean, who doesn't like honest people?
  • He stops birds from pooping on my head. Literally.
  • He always has a big ol' smile on his face.
  • He has the cutest tush in the whole world. Seriously, I'm kind of jealous.
  • He loves his family.
  • He loves me and tells me everyday.
  • He's a really good kisser.
  • He's going to be the best dad of all time, I can't wait to see him with our kids.
  • He works really early in the morning and before he leaves he pulls the covers up to my chin and kisses me on the cheek. Every morning. It's one of my favorite parts of the day.
  • He has a testimony and a strong knowledge of the gospel.
  • He's not bothered by the fact that he's a baldy and I wouldn't want him any other way.
  • One of his first questions of the day is, "what should we have for dinner?"
  • He says he doesn't like to dance but at home he's got some serious dance moves.
  • He gets so happy when he sees me walk in the door, I really couldn't be more lucky.
  • He loves sports. He'll play anytime, anywhere.
  • He takes me to the temple.
  • He loves food. Feed him and you'll have a new best friend.
  • He's always happy.
  • He's really smart and has a very active mind.
  • One of his favorite movies of all time is UHF.
  • He loves the Beatles.
  • He has the same best friends he's had since forever. And loves them to death.
  • He's a goofball.
  • When we first started dating he was shocked to find out I didn't own anything water proof and quickly took me shopping to change that.
  • He loves camping and hiking.
  • He's always prepared.
  • He speaks another language.
  • He doesn't buy anything unless he's spent a considerable amount of time researching it and finding out where he can get the best deal.
  • He's full of life.
  • He loves electronics.
  • He loves going into REI, but rarely buys anything.
  • His favorite restaurant is Red Lobster. (All you can eat shrimp!)
  • He puts up with my incessant picture taking of all the different places we go and the fun things we do, and poses with a smile on his face.
  • He's kind.
  • He really likes to sing and has a beautiful voice.
  • He's not a huge fan of video games.
  • He knows every song imaginable for commercials-mostly ones from the 80's and 90's.
  • He's a great priesthood leader.
  • He's got lots of energy.
  • He likes to dive. He was on the dive team in high school.
  • His dad is his hero and he tries every day to be more like him.
  • He's a mommas boy.
  • He's the baby of the family.
  • When talking to him you might be fooled to think he's the spokesperson for Costco, but really he's just a faithful customer.
  • He can't wait till he has a little baby of his own to play with.
  • He's really funny. Not in the obvious joksy kind of way but he gets me laughing so hard!
  • He hates running for no reason. He only likes to for sports.
  • He thinks the Twilight movies are ridiculous but watches them with my anyway. (even if he is laughing the whole time)
  • He's amazing at directions. He can go somewhere one time and then remember how to get back. (thank goodness because I am the exact opposite and spend most of my time getting lost). Needless to say, he is the driver in our family.
  • He gets really angry when he loses playing basketball, but is never a poor sport.
  • He lets things that don't matter go and never holds grudges.
  • One of the only foods he doesn't like are yams. Oh and sweet potatoes. But that's about it.
  • He served his mission in Minnesota and taught the Hmong people. He loved it and talks about it often.
  • He's the master of back flips on the trampoline.
  • He's my best friend. (and a dang good one at that!)
Oh my goodness that smile melts my heart! Love you! Happy Birthday!!!

Discovery Park

We went to Discovery Park on Saturday and it was beautiful! This was the first time either of us had been surprisingly. It's just North of Seattle. We hiked in about 1 1/2 miles. It was a really nice little hike. You start out walking through the forest and you come out into this big open field and you can walk along the edge where there is a strait drop off to the beautiful Puget Sound. It was really cool!

Isn't it just so beautiful? I am so in love with this place.

That's the drop off. We hiked down to get to the beach and there is also a light house but it was wrapped up for renovations so we didn't get to see it. Maybe next time.

We hiked down to the the water and played around a little bit. Erich likes to kick over all the rocks and find the crabs and I like to take pictures so that's what we did. We saw the clouds moving in so we decided to head back and as soon as we did it started pouring on us! Not just raining, pouring. It rained the whole way back and we were soaking wet. But the second we got back to the car, and I mean the very second we got back, it stopped. Completely stopped. Thanks for that mother nature. We had a great time anyway!

Weeding plus ice blocking equals weekend

We spent our weekend doing this...

And this...

We headed down to Puyallup Saturday morning to help Erich's brother mow and weed a subdivision. He hasn't been feeling well lately and he needed to get it done so we figured we'd go help him out. It turned out to be a really nice day and I really enjoyed being outside, even if it was while weeding. It brought me back to growing up when we would weed every Saturday. And that is no exaggeration. It was literally every Saturday. And let me tell you, weeding up here is soo much better than in the desert! The weeds just come right out here. And well, that doesn't happen in St. George. You're literally chipping away at the ground to get the weeds out. It's either that or having to soak the ground for three days to get the ground soft enough. Oh the things you end up missing. :) I actually really like to do yard work and I'm excited to have our own yard and house to take care of. I can't wait to have my own little garden!

Anywho.

On Saturday night we hung out with my good friend Jacee and her husband Ryan. Jacee is my best friend from St. George who I've been friends with since we met at my 14th birthday party. She ended up meeting Ryan in Salt Lake while he was going to school. Well Ryan is from here so after he graduated they moved up here and got married in the Seattle temple. (that happened about a year after I had moved here) But how cool is that?! And what are the odds that I would move up here, meet someone, get married, and then she would meet someone, move up here, and get married. Craziness I tell you! We have a lot of fun having date nights with them and we had a brilliant idea (actually Jacee had the brilliant idea) to go ice blocking. We had went in St. George oh so long ago and her hubby had never been so we thought it would be a fun date night. It's too bad we forgot our cameras because there would have been some really funny pictures but oh well. It was a really fun trip down memory lane, and her husband said it was better that he thought it was going to be so...success!

Catching up

These next few posts are to catch up. This blog is a great way to document all of the things that happen in our life and all of the fun stuff we do and it is something that is really special to me. I want to be able to print our blog into a book every year so we can have it forever. I would love to have had something like this from my parents so I'm excited that our kids will be able to look back and see our life and our thoughts. So these are a few of the things that we did before I started the blog that I wanted on here.

New Years

We had a really fun New Years. Erich's parents came into town so we had (almost) the whole family together. We had a great time playing the Wii. I want one so bad now! It was nice to just hang out with the family and play games! The Winkler family always has a blast when we're all together and this night was no exception!

They needed a little nap after their Wii workout.

Aren't they just the cutest things you have every seen?! He loves his dad so much!

Hello 2010! Check out my bloodshot eye! Apparently I don't get out much. I could barely stay awake till midnight! I'm not a huge fan of staying up late, I like my sleep thank you! But for New Years I will make an exception. We are so excited for 2010. It's going to be a great year!
